General Registrar
The Department of the General Registrar undertakes the administration of educational affairs for university students and direct supervision over the academic system, monitors the application of systems and regulations for study and examinations, and coordinates with all departments and administrative units affiliated to it, as the General Registrar’s administration works to approve the admission of new students and issue their restrictions, as well as broadcasting the applications of transferred students, whether from Outside the university or from among its departments, after referring it to the committees concerned with equivalency of courses inside the university. Among his tasks is also to follow up the conditions of enrolled students and complete the procedures for downloading the materials according to the study plan approved for each semester, as well as overseeing the development of study schedules, examination schedules and halls in coordination with the scientific departments.

New students

New students who have not previously studied as a higher education institution (holding a high school diploma or its equivalent).

Transferred students

Students who have previously studied at a higher education institution, and these students are subjected to equivalence of their previously studied subjects, provided that it does not exceed 50% of the total subjects required for the student to study in the department he is enrolled in, as stipulated in the admission, study and exams regulations at the university.

Students with a higher qualification (higher diploma) who wish to complete their university studies

A number of subjects studied by the student are calculated on the condition that he does not change the major (i.e., a number of remedial subjects are added to it that qualify him to obtain a university degree in his major.

The documents needed to complete the registration process

♦ The high school diploma or its original equivalent (to be taken in the event the student obtained it from outside Libya)

♦ Birth certificate (and passport copy for international students)

♦ (6) Photographs.

♦ national number.

♦ The original transcript approved by the authority from which the student transferred in the event of studying at another higher education institution before joining the university.

♦ Attach the graduation certificate and his transcript in the case of students who have obtained a higher diploma and wish to complete their studies with the same major.

The student has the right to enroll at the university after obtaining a registration number and a registration card, as follows:

• (Fall and Spring semesters) Minimum of 15 units

• (Summer semester) Optional high limit 12 units

The student downloads his courses according to the schedule prepared from the department in which he joined, where he chooses the courses whose dates do not conflict with each other according to the precedents of the subjects previously determined by the department after adopting the download form. The student must join his lectures according to the lecture schedule of his department.


This section undertakes the implementation of all matters related to study and examinations in accordance with the applicable regulations. This is done by preparing the study plan and approving it by the General Registrar’s administration. The department follows up on the implementation of this plan by providing all the necessary facilities to start and end lectures on time. The department also works to submit results for approval quarterly, announce them and distribute them to the scientific departments after being approved by the university president, and from His duties are also supervising and following up on his boards and submitting quarterly reports on the progress of the educational process, from the registration and download process to the referral of the graduates’ files and their release, in coordination with the departments

It is the unit responsible for monitoring the grades of the semester work and final exams according to the statements submitted by the scientific departments and works to preserve and archive them after approval and after reviewing them manually and using the electronic system.

The project coordinator is considered a coordinator between students and scientific departments, and he works to facilitate all the administrative obstacles and difficulties facing the student during the project preparation period, as he supervises the filling of project forms.
